The first 2019 USTA Florida junior tournament to be held at the USTA National Campus is set to get underway the morning of Saturday, Feb.  23 and conclude the afternoon of Sunday, Feb. 24. Featuring competitors across all of the USTA’s junior age divisions, including draws for the boys’ and girls’ 10 & under Orange Ball competition.

All seeding for the tournament is based on the most recent published UTR ratings (Feb. 21); the same ratings were also used to separate larger divisions into multiple draws. In total, the event features nine boys’ and four girls’ draws – with draws of four players competing in a round-robin format and draws of eight taking part in the compass format.

Boys’ top seeds for the 12s-14s, from lowest to highest UTR, include Tristan Bradu (Orlando), Everett McMullen (Mount Dora), Justin Roberts (Atlanta), Evan Sheffield (Orlando), and Ben Moore (Winter Park). Colin Sadtler (Maitland) is the No. 1 seed in the lone 14s-18s division. Dhruv Dubey (Lake Mary), Wyatt Fischer (Orlando), and Santiago Cardenas (Tampa) are the top seeds in the boys’ 16s-18s draws.

Martine Sundsten (Orlando) and Juanita Villamarin (Miamai Lakes) have earned top billing in the two girls’ 12s-14s draws; Valeria Lopez (Kissimmee) starts the weekend as the No. 1 seed for the girls’ 12s-18s, while Tanea Spruill (Saint Cloud) is seeded first in the girls’ 14s-18s.

Players will take to the courts for two matches on Saturday and one on Sunday with the exception of the Orange Ball competitors, as all matches will be played Saturday. First matches are slated to begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
