It was a busy day of doubles play on Wednesday at the ATP Challenger Orlando Open Presented by Nemours, making up over half of the matches on the schedule.

The two remaining seeded teams were defeated, following the two doubles upsets that occurred on Tuesday. No. 1 seeds Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela (Mexico) and Fernando Romboli (Brazil) could no complete the comeback against American wild cards Christian Harrison and Dennis Novikov, falling 6-2, 5-7, 10-6. Meanwhile, the Dutch duo of Jesper De Jong and Sem Verbeek downed the third-seeded American tandem of Nathan Pasha and Max Schnur 6-4, 6-2.

Harrison and Novikov will take on Yuki Bhambri (India) and Matthew Ebden (Australia), who held off Americans Denis Kudla and Thai-Son Kwiatkowski 7-6(5), 6-2, in the next round. For De Jong and Verbeek, their next opponents will be JC Aragone (United States) and Luis David Martinez (Venezuela); Aragone and Martinez outlasted Mackenzie McDonald and Martin Redlicki of the United States 6-7(5), 7-5, 10-6 on Wednesday. Additionally, Michell Krueger and Jack Sock got past Ante Pavic (Croatia) and Ruan Roelofse (South Africa) 7-6(6), 6-3 to set up an all-American matchup with Alexander Ritschard and Alex Rybakov.

None of the four singles matches for the day went the distance. American teenager Zane Khan, who received a wild card into the event, secured the biggest victory of his young career to advance the quarterfinals. Khan won two sets in a tightly-contested 7-6(5), 7-6(5) affair over No. 2 seed Yasutaka Uchiyama (Japan), the 108th-ranked player in the FedEx ATP Rankings. Next up for Khan will be another American in Jenson Brooksby, who ended the run of qualifier Altug Celikbilek (Turkey) with a 6-3, 6-1 result.

The Dominican Republic’s Roberto Cid Subervi also scored a big upset on Wednesday with a 7-6(2), 6-2 victory over No. 4 seed Thiago Seyboth Wild (Brazil). That put him into the quarterfinals across the net from Canadian Brayden Schnur after he bested American Bjorn Fratangelo 6-3, 7-6(2).
