Fan Guide to College MatchDay

All MatchDay events to air live on Tennis Channel.

Florida and Florida State, one of the biggest rivalries in college tennis, will square off against each other when the College MatchDay season gets underway at the USTA National Campus on Saturday, Feb. 3.

 

A large crowd is expected, so fans are encouraged to arrive early to get a seat. The men's match will be on the south side (parking lot side) while the women's match will be on the north side (Lake Nona side). All seats and standing areas are general admission unless otherwise designated. 

 

Before making your way to Lake Nona, here is everything you need to know about attending the match:

• Saturday, Feb. 3

• Gates open: 5 p.m.

• First serve: 7 p.m.

Tickets

• Admission is free, however tickets are no longer available online.

• To reserve complimentary tickets for future College MatchDay events:

Parking

• Parking is free and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

• Valet parking is available for $5. 

 

RV Parking

• Fans with RVs are directed to park in the back row of the main parking lot. 

 

Bus Parking

• The bus lane is located near the front of the main parking lot. 

 

Pre-match Festivities

• Starting at 5 p.m., fans can experience a live DJ, tailgating games, face painters, a caricature artist and much more, all for free.

• Led by USTA Teaching Professionals, a free interactive kids’ clinic will begin at 5:30 p.m.

• Giveaways will be distributed throughout the night.

• Event programs will be on sale for $5, as will merchandise from Fromuth Tennis.

• Food and refreshments, including adult beverages, will be available for purchase. 

 

Match Format

• The men and women will play at the same time at the collegiate complex.

• Doubles will open the match. The first team to win two of the three matches earns one overall team point. Matches are one six-game set.

• Following doubles, six singles matches will take place. Each match is worth one team point.

• The first school to secure four team points wins the match. 

 

Court Assignments

• The national anthem and team introductions will take place on Court 1 (the side facing the parking lot). 

• Fireworks will follow the national anthem to the East of the courts.

• Both sides of the collegiate complex will be used for matches.

• The men's match will be on the south side (parking lot side). Doubles will take place on courts 1, 3 and 5, while singles will be on courts 1-6.

• The women's match will be on the north side (Lake Nona side). Doubles will take place on courts 7, 9 and 11, while singles will be on courts 7-12.

 

2017 Recap

• Florida State stunned Florida in front of the highest regular-season crowd in college tennis in 2017.

• A total of 1,756 fans watched as the Seminoles and Gators were tied at 2-2 before FSU notched the final two singles wins and clinched a 4-2 team victory.
