Another busy day on court at the 2021 USTA Florida March Level 4 Championships has set up the four divisional finals for Monday morning. Live scoring for those contests can be viewed here. Consolation play also continued throughout Sunday with last rounds scheduled to take place Monday as well.

It was a very different path to the boys’ 16s final for top seed Tygen Goldammer (Estero) and No. 5 Sebastian Mendoza (Weston). Goldammer faced a pair of unseeded opponents on the day, dismissing Zane Ensminger (Port Orange) 6-1, 6-1 before sweeping aside Alexander Di Staulo (Weston) 6-0, 6-0. For Mendoza, he survived a rollercoaster contest against second seed Nikita Deev (Las Vegas) 6-0, 0-6, 10-8 in the quarterfinals; Mendoza followed that effort up with an extended 7-5, 4-6, 10-5 victory over No. 4 Benjamin Willwerth (Jupiter) to advance to Monday’s championship match, scheduled for 9 a.m.

No. 2 seed Logan Haga (Zephyrhills) kept up his dominant ways, dropping only eight games over the course of his two matches on Sunday to secure his place in the boys’ 18s final. He started the day with a 6-2, 6-2 effort against unseeded Kahaka’ioikamalie Companion (Saint Cloud) before coming through 6-1, 6-3 in his matchup with fourth-seeded Daniel Green (Boca Raton). His opponent with the title on the line will be unseeded Daniel Berenblit (Ormond Beach), who toughed out a 7-6(5), 6-1 result versus Valentin Riveros (Miami) at the quarterfinal stage. In one of the last matches to get out on court Sunday, Berenblit bested No. 8 Phillip Dell (Bradenton) 6-2, 7-6(4) to earn the right to play for the title. Haga and Berenblit will face off at 11 a.m.

It will be No. 1 clashing with No. 2 in the girls’ 16s championship match. Both top-seeded Carla Pacot (Boca Raton) and second seed Sophia Cisse-Ignatiev (Naples) were pushed but answered the call on Sunday. Pacot got by Jordan Fenton (Biscayne Park) 6-4, 6-0 in the quarterfinals and claimed two tightly-contested sets in a 6-4, 7-5 semifinal triumph over Maria Araoz-Gosn (Parkland). Cisse-Ignatiev also ended the run of two unseeded hopefuls, first defeating Juhnyee See (Coconut Creek) 6-4, 6-3 and then stepping back out on court for a 6-3, 6-1 result against Delanie Tribby (Boca Raton). Pacot and Cisse-Ignatiev will go toe-to-toe at 9 a.m.

The favorites continued to own the girls’ 18s draw, as the top four seeds safely navigated their way to the semifinals. In the top half, No. 1 Sophia Wang (Saint Petersburg) beat fourth seed Victoria Osuigwe (Bradenton) 6-2, 6-2; Osuigwe was coming off a marathon 1-6, 6-4, 13-11 comeback over No. 7 Mary Boyce Deatherage (Maitland) in the quarterfinals. No. 2 Anslee Long (Saint Petersburg) was sharp in her 6-1, 6-1 win against No. 8 Cade Cricchio (Gainesville) to begin the day, and she needed to maintain that level of play in order to survive her semifinal clash with third seed Jasmin Makela (Boca Raton), which went in favor of Long 6-3, 4-6, 10-3. The Saint Petersburg natives are slated to be across the net from each other at 9:30 a.m.

Monday’s matches are set to begin at 8:30 a.m. For more information on the USTA Florida March Level 4 Championships, click here.
