Tuesday marked the start of main draw singles and doubles action at the USTA National Campus Pro Tennis Classic, the $15,000 women's event taking place at the USTA National Campus in Orlando through Sunday, March 11.
Additionally, the final round of qualifying was also completed on the day, with eight players advancing for a spot in the main draw. Tuesday’s qualifiers included three Americans— 16-year-old Duke recruit Emma Navarro, former Purdue standout Mara Schmidt, and 14-year-old Madison Sieg.
First round singles winners included top seed and former Top 5 junior Usue Maitane Arconada, former Top 125 player and No. 8 seed Jessica Pegula, former Syracuse standout Amanda Rodgers, and 18-year-old wild card Alana Smith.
This is the second pro tennis event to be held at the USTA National Campus this year. Another USTA Pro Circuit women's event took place at the campus in January.
Please note that a number of community events will be held throughout the week, including Net Generation Kids’ Clinics. Net Generation is the USTA’s new unified youth initiative to inspire the next generation of tennis players.
