It was all about singles on Saturday at the 2020 ITF W25 Orlando event, hosted by the USTA National Campus, as several days of rain earlier in the week resulted in the quarterfinal and semifinal round having to be played on the same day. Ultimately, all four players to reach the semifinals were American, with Robin Montgomery and qualifier Alycia Parks the last two standing.

The morning session saw the four quarterfinal matchups in action. Jamie Loeb was off the court quickly thanks to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Claire Liu (USA), while Parks was the beneficiary of a retirement after No. 2 Katarzyna Kawa of Poland could no longer continue with the score standing at 3-6, 6-3. Montgomery was the victor in another all-American battle, shaking off a tough opening set to defeat qualifier Hurricane Tyra Black 5-7, 6-0, 6-2. Rounding out the semifinalists was Hanna Chang, who took care of qualifier Katarina Jokic (Serbia) 6-4, 6-4.

Getting back on court in the afternoon, Parks ran her winning streak for the week to six with a comfortable 6-3, 6-2 effort against Loeb. For Montgomery, an extended first set with Chang eventually went her way in the tiebreak before she closed things out 7-6(2), 6-2.

The doubles final – featuring Parks and Rasheeda McAdoo (USA) facing Loeb and Erin Routliffe (New Zealand) – was originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon; however, since both Parks and Loeb played two singles matches on the day, the contest was pushed to Sunday.

The singles final is slated for a 10 a.m. start with the doubles final to follow after suitable rest for Parks. For more information on the ITF W25 Orlando, click here.
