"Many thanks for being such gracious host teammates"
Twenty young tennis players from the New York tristate area who train out of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center hit the road in early August and took their training to the USTA National Campus.
Hosted in cooperation with Development and National Campus facilities and staff, the camp was comprised of three five-day sessions, a total of 15 days of training.
The tennis camp was an extensive visit that had the young players on the red clay drilling, practicing and playing friendly matches with National Campus juniors. Besides the on-court work, the juniors took a walking field trip to the USPTA and USTA Florida section headquarters, had a stringing and equipment tutorial at the National Campus Racquet Bar and learned about USTA-U through presentations by Chris Michalowski.
“Many thanks to Casey Claggett and his lodge staff, Jody Viancos, Kathy Woods, Tina Lee and others from the National Campus for being such gracious and accommodating host teammates,” said Whitney Kraft, Director of Tennis at the NTC.
“And kudos to NTC Head Professional Joao Pinho and staff professionals Rod Bailey, Leo Correa, Alex Bessarabov and Tristen Dewar for traveling to Orlando to coach/supervise and deliver on our mission. As well, much appreciation to our New York-based programs team of Deb Russell, Reiko Giffords, Isaias Morales, Issa Kintanar and Tina Taps for communications, marketing and accounting for this innovative project.”
