2019 Orlando Tennis Series
Main Draw Play Continues
June 19, 2019

The Orlando Tennis Series main draw continued on Wednesday, with all but two first-round singles matches completed before rain halted play once again at the USTA National Campus.
The event, which is an ITF World Tennis Tour M15 and W15 event, features some of the top up-and-coming men’s and women’s players from around the world, including both current and former collegians, as well as top American juniors.
The entirety of the first round was completed in the women’s singles main draw on Wednesday, with Americans securing 15 of the 16 available spots in the second round. No. 1 seed Grace Min and No. 2 seed Tori Kinard both advanced with straight-sets wins, while former Syracuse player Madeleine Kobelt, N.C. State rising sophomore Alana Smith and 17-year-old Karina Miller all advanced as qualifiers.
The men’s singles main draw completed all but two matches on Wednesday, as six more Americans advanced to the second round. Notably, 17-year-old and Harvard-commit Ronan Jachuck advanced after his opponent, the third-seeded Dragos Nicolae Madaras of Sweden retired in the first set. He’ll face University of Illinois rising senior Aleks Kovacevic in the second round after the New York native advanced with a straight-sets win.
The ITF World Tennis Tour is the new umbrella name for all former USTA Pro Circuit and Junior Circuit tournaments and serves as the player pathway between the junior game and the elite levels of professional tennis.
The Orlando Tennis Series is the second professional tennis tournament to be held at the USTA National Campus this year. In January, the campus welcomed the Orlando Open, an ATP Challenger 90 men’s event that saw American Marcos Giron win the first ATP title of his career.
The main draw continues tomorrow and concludes with the doubles finals of Saturday, June 22, followed by the singles finals on Sunday, June 23. Play begins daily at 9 a.m. Admission to the Orlando Tennis Series is free.
