2021 WTT National Qualifier Orlando
Opening Day Concludes

Day one of the 2021 World Team Tennis National Qualifier Orlando, hosted by the USTA National Campus, saw five of the eight divisions in action to kick off the weekend. Overall, a total of 30 teams are participating in the three-day event.
The largest division is the Senior 4.0, where nine squads have been divided into two flights. In Flight A, Cookie Monsters (Belleville, Ill.) bested Silver Alert! (Raleigh, N.C.) by a 31-21 margin while Fire and Ice (San Diego) defeated Florida Breeze (Nokomis, Fla.) 33-19. The Hurricane Hunters (Miami) jumped to the top of Flight B after a slim 27-25 victory over the Terminetters (Cohoes, N.Y.) before downing Warm Up the Leftovers (Merritt Island, Fla.) 30-24. Warm Up the Leftovers did collect a win against Delaware Smash (Wilmington, Del.) on the day, as did the Evergreen 4.0 (Long Valley, N.J.) crew.
In the Senior 3.5 competition, Evergreen (Montville, N.J.) holds the top spot thanks to putting away the Terminators (Anderson, S.C.) 35-19 and then stepping back on court to outlast Delray Double Trouble (Delray Beach, Fla.) 27-26. The Terminators did rebound for a 32-27 result in their favor versus Miami Buckeyes (Miami); the group from Miami also suffered a narrow 31-30 defeat at the hands of the Hurry Canes (O’Fallon, Ill.).
Just one dual match took place in the 3.5 division, where Pandamonium (Raleigh, N.C.) was impressive in their 36-17 triumph over Tri-City Aces (Delanson, N.Y.). Fireball (Tulsa, Okla.), the third team in the division, takes to the courts for the first time on Saturday in the double round-robin competition. In the four-team 4.0 division, Match Makers (Oxford, N.C.) secured a one-point win over Sindecuse (Weldon Spring, Mo.), 28-27, and Reverse Strokes (Leawood, Kan.) held off Reiss (Fairview Heights, Ill.) by a 31-26 score line.
The Miami Heaters (Miami) came through in the one match of the Super Senior 3.5 division to be contested on Friday, doubling up Have Aspercreme Will Travel (Shiloh, Ill.) by a final of 32-16. Those two, along with Double Vision (Livingston, N.J.), make up this division that is also using the double round-robin format.
