2020 Orlando Open presented by Nemours
Singles Opening Round Underway
November 16, 2020

Main draw action at the 2020 Orlando Open presented by Nemours, an ATP Challenger 80 event, kicked off on Monday as a total of seven singles matches were on the schedule. Among the day’s winners were four American competitors.
Just one contest went the distance, as former collegiate standouts Christopher Eubanks was across the net from Thai-Son Kwiatkowski. An extended opening set went to Kwiatkowski in a tiebreak, seven points to one, before Eubanks dug into his return games to run away with the 6-7(1), 6-3, 6-1 victory.
Seventeen-year-old qualifier Zachary Svajda continued his high-level of play, getting the best of Brandon Holt by a 7-5, 6-3 margin in another all-American matchup. Additionally, wild card Patrick Kypson survived a back-and-forth second set to hold off qualifier Christian Harrison 6-3, 7-6(8). Rounding out the Americans moving on to the second round on Monday was Mitchell Krueger, who eased past Canadian Peter Polansky 6-4, 6-4.
There were only two seeds involved in the first day of play, with No. 6 Dmitry Popko (Kazakhstan) dismissing Noah Rubin (USA) 6-1, 6-2 and fifth-seeded Mohamed Safwat (Egypt) coming up on the wrong end of a 6-1, 6-1 score line against Japanese Hiroki Moriya. Also getting through to round two was Tung-Lin Wu (Taiwan) via a 6-2, 6-2 result over Brazil’s Thomaz Bellucci.
All winners will have the day off from singles before returning to the courts for the round of 16 on Wednesday. The remaining opening round singles matches along with a handful of doubles matchups are slated for Tuesday; first serve on the three match courts will be 10 a.m.
The 2020 Orlando Open is closed to the public; only credentialed guests will be able to access the tournament area. For more information on the 2020 Orlando Open presented by Nemours, including the daily order of play and live streaming links, click here.
