The opening day of the 2017 USTA Florida Adult 40 & Over 3.5/4.5+ Sectional Championships finished late into the night on Thursday following a delayed start due to severe weather. Flight 4 of the women’s 3.5 division kicked off the tournament, as all teams were in action.

The three teams that won on Thursday night all dropped a total of four sets. Polk sits atop the flight standings after defeating Hillsborough, claiming four of the five courts in the dual match. Volusia took down Duval by a 3-2 margin, losing a mere 36 games, which was one less than Polk. In the final dual, Orange/Seminole slipped past Brevard, 3-2.

Play picks back up Friday morning at 8:00 am as the remaining teams competing in the tournament get started.
