USTA League National Adult 18 & Over 4.5 Championships
16 Men's, 15 Women's Teams Set to Compete
November 9, 2017

USTA League National weekend No. 4 at the USTA National Campus is set to get underway Friday morning, with the nation’s best men’s and women’s teams in the 18 & Over 4.5 division focusing their sights on claiming a national team title.
A total of 15 USTA Sections – all but Northern and Hawaii – will be represented on the women’s side; every Section but Hawaii will compete in the men’s field. The women’s competition features only three flights, each composed of five teams, meaning a wild card team will round out the four squads advancing to the semifinals. For the men, only the top finisher in each of the four flights will move on to the semifinals.
Matches are scheduled to get underway Friday morning at 7 a.m. and run through Sunday afternoon. Flight play will make up both Friday’s and Saturday’s schedule, with the semifinal pairings to be determined by the end of play on Saturday. The championship semifinals will be contested on Sunday morning at 7 a.m. with the finals to follow.

In last year’s Championships, Intermountain slipped past Southern, 3-2, for the women’s trophy while Eastern defeated Southern California by the same margin to earn the men’s title.
Established in 1980, USTA League has grown from 13,000 players in a few parts of the country in its first year to more than 900,000 players across the nation today, making it the world’s largest recreational tennis league.
USTA League was established to provide adult recreational players throughout the country with the opportunity to compete against players of similar ability levels. Players participate on teams in a league format, which is administered by the USTA through its 17 sections. The league groups players by using six National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP) levels, ranging from 2.5 (entry) to 5.0 (advanced). USTA League is open to any USTA member 18 years of age or older.
