The second of five USTA League National Championships held at the USTA National Campus will take to the courts this weekend, as the men’s and women’s 40 & Over 4.5+ titles will be up for grabs Oct. 25-27. First serve will be Friday at 7:30 a.m. with the winners to be crowned Sunday afternoon.

Friday and Saturday will see every squad compete in two duals per day. Following the end of match play Saturday evening, the top four men’s and top four women’s teams will advance to Sunday’s playoff rounds. The divisional semifinals are scheduled for 7:30 a.m. while the finals and third-place matches will get underway at approximately 10:30 a.m.

For this event, a dual consists of five courts overall, two of which will feature singles contests with the remaining three made up of doubles matchups. A team needs to win at least three of those courts to claim the victory.

On the men’s side, every Section will be represented with the exception of Hawaii; all 17 Sections are sending a squad to the National Campus to play for the women’s crown.

At last year’s Championships, the Southern California (Live Oaks Tennis Association – South Pasadena) men won a pair of 3-2 decisions, including besting in-state foe Northern California (Davie Tennis Stadium – Oakland) in the final. For the women’s competition, Pacific Northwest (Club Green Meadows – Vancouver, Wash.) also came out on top by a slim 3-2 margin in the playoff rounds, ousting Southern (Millbrook Tennis Center – Raleigh, N.C.) with the title on the line.
