USTA FL Adult 18 & Over 3.0/4.5 Sectional Championships

Four More Divisional Titles at Stake

The month of July wraps up while August kicks off at the USTA National Campus with another busy weekend of USTA Florida Adult action, as the 18 & Over 3.0 & 4.5 sectional crowns will be up for grabs. Matches are scheduled to start the morning of Saturday, July 31, and conclude Monday, August 2.

Squads will be competing in dual matches consisting of two singles courts along with three lines of doubles. The 3.0 women will be the only division taking place on the hard courts of the National Campus this weekend while the other three will be played out on the clay.

Six teams in total will by vying for the men’s 3.0 crown – Alachua, Broward, Duval, Hillsborough, Marion, and Orange/Seminole. Meanwhile, the women’s 3.0 competition is the largest at the event, with 16 different teams making their way to the National Campus with the hope of leaving as sectional championships. The weekend will begin with the crews equally dispersed among four flights. Advancing to the knockout stages will be the four flight winners; the semifinals will be contested at 2 p.m. on Sunday with the championship match slated for Monday at 8 a.m.

For the men’s 4.5 division, seven teams have been split into two flights. Flight 1 features Lee/Charlotte, Duval, Miami-Dade, and Pinellas; Flight 2 is made up of Alachua, Broward, and Hillsborough. The top finisher in each flight will secure their place in the divisional final. On the women’s 4.5 side, a singular flight of crews representing six different regions make up the division. Those regions include Broward, Collier, Duval, Escambia, Hillsborough, and Sarasota.

Defending champions include the Alachua (Jonesville Tennis Center – Gainesville) 3.0 men, the Orange/Seminole (Red Bug Lake Park – Casselberry) 3.0 women, the Hillsborough (Sandra W Freedman Tennis Complex – Tampa) 4.5 men, and the Hillsborough (HCC Tennis Complex – Tampa) 4.5 women.
