Introducing
The Nemours Family Zone
October 28, 2016

The Nemours Family Zone at the USTA National Campus is unlike anywhere else you’ve ever played! We have teamed up with some of the best in youth sports medicine, Nemours Children’s Health Systems and the Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, to make this experience fun and safe for all. From courts constructed with new technology that makes the game safer for players and the environment to great new programs for local families, this space is not to be missed!
TENNIS SIZED RIGHT
The Nemours Family Zone features tennis sized for age and ability – allowing all family members to get on the court and in the game. The Nemours Family Zone consists of eight 60-foot tennis courts and eight 36-foot tennis courts, with the smaller courts helping players of all ages enjoy the game together and promoting tennis fundamentals.
In addition to the smaller courts, low-compression balls and shorter racquets are used, producing longer rallies, more control and more fun.
SAFETY AND TECHNOLOGY
The Nemours Family Zone courts were constructed using a revolutionary system designed by Sport Court International. The bottom layer, called SportBase™, reduces wear and tear on joints by absorbing the impact. In addition, the light color of the bottom layer reduces court temperature for more comfortable play. The top layer, called PowerGame™, delivers great traction and playability while reducing stress on joints during play. Together, this system will leave players less tired and more energized after each match.
In addition to us bringing more safety features to the sport, the USTA has partnered with Nemours, one of the nation’s leading children’s health systems and Andrews Institute to provide advanced sports medicine and orthopedic care for young athletes. Working with both Nemours and the Andrews Institute will help more kids lead healthier lives — on and off the court.
KEEPING IT GREEN!
The materials in these courts are 100 percent recyclable and are produced in a factory where less than 1 percent of the raw materials used go to a landfill or waste disposal facility. By using the SportBase™ system, the USTA saved more than 24,000 gallons of water, removed more than 250,000 pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and saved the equivalent of more than 200 barrels of oil!
