2020 ITF J4 Orlando
Main Draw Begins Monday
October 26, 2020

The first event to be held on the Collegiate Center courts of the USTA National Campus since March, main draw action of the 2020 ITF J4 Orlando is scheduled to get underway Monday, Oct. 26 and continue through Friday, Oct. 30. The tournament was originally scheduled to be held in Lexington, S.C., before being relocated earlier this fall.
Singles qualifying matches were contested over the weekend, with four boys and four girls playing their way into the main draw. All four qualifiers on the boys’ side were Americans – Alexander Razeghi, Jackson Armistead, Niles Rachal, and Joseph Phillips. For the girls, Americans Tsehay Driscoll, Sarah Hamner, and Mary Stoiana were joined by Canadian Sarah L’Allier.
Each of the 32 first round singles matches will be contested on Monday. Additionally, there will be a 24-team doubles draw for both the boys and girls; those draws will be made on Monday.
Top-seeded Adolfo Daniel Vallejo (Paraguay) will be looking for better success than he had last week in the Grade 4 held in Atlanta, where he was also the No. 1 seed but was upset by American Ellis Short in the second round. Second-seeded Nishesh Basavareddy (USA) made a run to the semifinals in Atlanta before coming up short in three sets versus eventually champion Giulio Perego of Italy. Basavareddy and Perego could face off in the second round this week. Braden Shick (USA), who teamed up with fellow American Maxwell Smith for the doubles title in Atlanta, has also entered into the event this week, as have doubles runners-up Lucas Brown (USA) and Stian Klaassen (Netherlands).
While the girls’ champion from Atlanta – Emma Charney (USA) – has not made the trip down to Orlando, finalist American Ashlyn Krueger accepted a wild card into the main draw. Alexis Blokhina (USA) has earned the top seed as the only player in the field ranked inside the top 300. She will be looking to channel the form that took her all the way to the girls’ 18s singles crown at USTA Florida’s prestigious “Bobby Curtis” Junior Sectional Championships two summers ago in an event held on the grounds of the National Campus. Ava Krug (USA) starts the week as the No. 2 seed overall and Atlanta doubles winner Elisabeth Jones (USA) will also be in action.
First matches are slated for 9 a.m. Monday morning. For more information on the 2020 ITF J4 Orlando, click here.
