A unique league event featuring teams of mixed skill levels and genders, the USTA Florida Mombo Invitational is set to take place at the USTA National Campus Saturday, Jan. 11 and Sunday Jan. 12. The tournament will consist of two divisions – 7.5 and 8.5.

Each division will see squads competing in dual matches within a single flight; a dual match is composed of three courts of doubles, meaning a team will need to take at least two courts for the victory.

In the 7.5 competition, a total of six clubs have entered the event. The Forestmeadows Park and Athletic Center in Tallahassee will be sending a pair of teams to represent Leon, while the Broward region is set to send two teams from Weston – one from the Weston Tennis Center and one from the Midtown Athletic Club. Rounding out the field is Stuart’s North River Shores Tennis Club from IRMSL and the independent crew from Escambia.

With just three squads in the 8.5 division, the double round-robin format will be used. The Broward champions playing out of the Brian Piccolo Tennis Center in Hollywood might be entering as the favorites, especially considering the regional runners-up from the Dillon Tennis Center in Oakland Park is another of the trio of teams, while Escambia’s independent group rounds out the division.

Play begins at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and 8:00 a.m. on Sunday. For more information on the USTA Florida Mombo Invitational, click here
